If you've had unprotected sex or your usual method of contraception has failed, our pharmacy offers a confidential NHS Emergency Contraception service. Eligible patients may be able to receive emergency contraception free of charge following a clinical assessment, where clinically appropriate.

What happens during your consultation?

During your consultation, one of our trained pharmacy team members will:

• Discuss when unprotected sex took place

• Ask about your medical history and any medicines you are taking

• Assess which emergency contraception option may be suitable

• Provide emergency contraception where clinically appropriate

• Offer advice on ongoing contraception and sexual health

• Refer you to another healthcare professional if further care is needed

Your consultation will take place in a private consultation room, and all information will be treated confidentially.

When should you seek emergency contraception?

Emergency contraception may be suitable if:

• You've had unprotected sex

• A condom split, slipped or came off

• You missed contraceptive pills or your contraception was not used correctly

• Your contraceptive patch or vaginal ring failed

• You're concerned your regular contraception may not have worked
