Our private service provides a convenient option for people who would like a flu vaccination but are not eligible for a free NHS flu vaccine, or who choose to receive their vaccination privately.

Our private flu vaccination may be suitable for people who:

Before vaccination, our healthcare professional will carry out a suitability assessment and confirm that the vaccine is appropriate for you.

During your appointment, our healthcare professional will:

• Review relevant medical history

• Ask about allergies and previous vaccinations

• Check that the flu vaccine is suitable for you

• Explain the vaccination and possible side effects

• Administer the vaccine where appropriate

• Provide aftercare advice and answer any questions

The flu vaccine is usually given as an injection into the upper arm.

Flu vaccination is recommended each year because the strains of influenza circulating can change from one season to another.

Protection from previous flu vaccinations can also decrease over time.

For this reason, the flu vaccine is updated for each flu season to provide protection against the influenza strains expected to be circulating.

Some people can receive the seasonal flu vaccination free through the NHS, depending on their age, health circumstances and other eligibility criteria.

If you're eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination, you may not need to pay for a private vaccination.

Vaccination is provided following a suitability assessment by one of our healthcare professionals and is subject to the vaccine being appropriate for you.

If you're eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination, you may be able to receive your vaccination through the NHS instead. Please speak to our pharmacy team if you're unsure which service to book.
