Stop Smoking Support

Ready to stop smoking? Get free NHS stop-smoking support from your local PillBox Chemists team, with personalised advice, regular support and access to suitable stop-smoking treatments where appropriate.

Stopping smoking is one of the most positive changes you can make for your health, but you don't have to do it alone.

Our NHS Stop Smoking Support service provides professional, personalised support to help you quit smoking and stay smoke-free.

Our trained pharmacy team will work with you to understand your smoking habits, previous quit attempts and goals before helping you develop a quit plan that works for you.

The NHS stop-smoking support service is free for eligible patients.

Our pharmacy team can support you throughout your quit attempt by:

  • Discussing your current smoking habits and reasons for quitting

  • Helping you choose a realistic quit date

  • Creating a personalised plan to support your quit attempt

  • Providing practical advice for managing cravings and withdrawal symptoms

  • Discussing suitable stop-smoking treatments

  • Providing regular follow-up support

  • Reviewing your progress and adjusting your support where appropriate

Having professional support alongside appropriate stop-smoking treatment can improve your chances of successfully quitting.

Depending on your individual circumstances and the NHS service available to you, our healthcare professional can discuss suitable treatment options.

These may include Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), such as:

  • Nicotine patches

  • Gum

  • Lozenges

  • Inhalators

  • Mouth sprays

Other stop-smoking medicines may also be available where clinically appropriate and through the relevant NHS pathway.

Our pharmacy team will discuss the available options and help determine which approach may be most appropriate for you.

Your NHS stop-smoking support is free for eligible patients.

Whether stop-smoking products or medicines are provided free of charge can depend on the NHS service or local scheme through which you receive them.

Some treatments may be supplied free of charge. In other cases, an NHS prescription charge may apply, unless you're entitled to free NHS prescriptions.

Our pharmacy team will explain the treatment options available to you and any applicable charges before treatment is supplied.

At the start of the service, a member of our trained pharmacy team will discuss your smoking history, previous quit attempts and what you would like to achieve.

Together, we'll develop a personalised approach to quitting and discuss any stop-smoking treatments that may help you manage cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

We'll continue to support you throughout your quit attempt with regular follow-ups, helping you monitor your progress, manage challenges and stay motivated.
