The NHS COVID-19 Vaccination Service provides free COVID-19 vaccinations to eligible patients as part of the NHS seasonal vaccination programme.
COVID-19 can cause respiratory illness and, for some people, can lead to serious illness or complications. The seasonal NHS vaccination programme focuses on people who are at greater risk of becoming seriously unwell from COVID-19.
For the autumn 2026 campaign, eligible patients can receive their NHS COVID-19 vaccination from 1 October 2026.
For the autumn 2026 campaign, there are three eligible groups:
Aged 75 or over
You are eligible if you:
Are aged 75 or over, or
Will turn 75 during the vaccination campaign
You do not need to have an underlying health condition to qualify through age.
People with a weakened immune system
People aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system may be eligible for a free NHS COVID-19 vaccination.
This can include people with certain conditions or treatments affecting the immune system, such as:
Certain blood cancers
Organ or stem cell transplants
Chemotherapy or radiotherapy
Certain biologic or targeted therapies
Certain steroid treatments
Other medicines that suppress the immune system
HIV or other immune deficiencies
Specific clinical criteria apply. If you're unsure whether your condition or treatment makes you eligible, please speak to our pharmacy team.
Care home residents
People living in a care home for older adults are also eligible for a free NHS COVID-19 vaccination.
Vaccination for this group is generally provided in the care home by the local care home vaccination team rather than through a pharmacy walk-in service.
The autumn 2026 NHS COVID-19 vaccination campaign starts from 1 October 2026.
There should normally be a minimum of 3 months between COVID-19 vaccine doses.
Our healthcare professional will review your previous COVID-19 vaccination history and confirm whether you're due for a vaccination before it is administered. NHS COVID ELIGIBILTY QUICK GUIDE
