Hepatitis B - vaccination

Protect yourself against Hepatitis B with our private vaccination service. Recommended for travellers visiting higher-risk destinations and individuals at increased risk of exposure to the Hepatitis B virus.

Hepatitis B is a viral infection that affects the liver and is spread through contact with infected blood and other body fluids. Although some people recover completely, Hepatitis B can become a long-term infection and may lead to serious liver disease, including cirrhosis and liver cancer.

Our private Hepatitis B Vaccination service helps protect against Hepatitis B and is commonly recommended for travellers visiting destinations where Hepatitis B is more common, as well as individuals who may be at increased risk of exposure.

Before vaccination, one of our healthcare professionals will assess your travel plans, medical history and individual circumstances to determine whether the vaccine is suitable for you.

Who should consider the Hepatitis B vaccine?

The Hepatitis B vaccine may be suitable for:

  • Travellers visiting destinations where Hepatitis B is more common or where vaccination is recommended

  • Healthcare workers and students on clinical placements

  • Individuals whose work may involve contact with blood or body fluids

  • People travelling for extended periods or undertaking higher-risk activities

  • Anyone wishing to reduce their risk of Hepatitis B infection

If you're unsure whether you need the Hepatitis B vaccine, our healthcare professional can provide personalised travel health advice based on your destination, itinerary and individual circumstances.

What happens during your appointment?

During your appointment, one of our qualified healthcare professionals will:

  • Review your travel plans and medical history

  • Assess whether the Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for you

  • Discuss the benefits and possible side effects of the vaccine

  • Administer the vaccination safely

  • Provide aftercare advice and answer any questions

The vaccination is given as an injection into the upper arm, and appointments usually take around 15–20 minutes.

Why choose PillBox Chemists?

Please note

The Hepatitis B Vaccination is a private service and charges apply.

The Hepatitis B vaccine is usually given as a three-dose course. Depending on your travel plans or individual circumstances, an accelerated vaccination schedule may also be available. Your healthcare professional will advise you on the most appropriate vaccination schedule for you.

Following a complete vaccination course, protection is long-lasting, and many people remain protected for many years. Booster doses are only recommended for certain individuals at ongoing risk of exposure, and your healthcare professional will advise you if these are required.
