Pharmacy First (England)

Get expert advice and treatment for selected common conditions through the NHS Pharmacy First service. Eligible patients can receive a free consultation with one of our trained pharmacists, with treatment provided where clinically appropriate, without needing to see a GP first.

The NHS Pharmacy First service makes it easier to access healthcare for a range of common conditions without needing to book a GP appointment.

Our trained pharmacists can assess your symptoms, provide expert clinical advice and, where clinically appropriate, supply NHS-funded treatment during your consultation. If your condition requires further assessment, we'll advise you on the most appropriate next steps or refer you to another healthcare professional.

The service is available to eligible patients and aims to provide faster access to care while helping reduce unnecessary GP appointments.

What conditions can be treated?

Through the NHS Pharmacy First service, our pharmacists can assess and provide treatment, where clinically appropriate, for the following conditions:

If you're unsure whether your symptoms are suitable for Pharmacy First, our pharmacy team will be happy to advise you.
